Matayo Kyaligonza his body guards Cpl.Bushindiki Peter, private Okurut John Robert and Attorney General in the high court civil division for assaulting Otayi while executing his lawful duties in Seeta Mukono.
Through their lawyers of Kiiza and Mugisha advocates, the two are seeking for the declaration that acts or omission of the three amount to abuse of power and violate the fundamental human rights.
The complainants are also seeking for compensation of 340 million shillings in damages.
It should be noted that on the 24th of February 2019, the respondents beat up journalist Peter Otai as he captured photos of them assaulting a traffic officer Sergent Esther Namaganda at Seeta Mukono.
Speaking to journalists shortly after filing the suit, Otai said despite receiving several threats from various people, he will not give up on seeking for justice.
His lawyer Esom Simon Peter and the UJA secretary for human rights Mukose Arnold Anthony committed to pursue justice to the very end.
They also cautioned the violators of Journalists rights stop it since they are now bitting.
