Vendors in Usafi market have this morning stormed KCCA headquarters and tried to force their way into a meeting meant for the shop owners in the Usafi tax park and KCCA officials and security personnel.
The vendors accused KCCA officials and the manager Usafi market James Lwanga of pressing them and always isolating them whenever they seek to have their issues resolved but rather he fights for the shop owners who he purportedly benefits from.
The vendors also asserted that they were also invited to the meeting but only got surprised by the actions of Lwanga and security to deter them from attending the meeting.
However going by the invitations the stall vendors were excluded.
meanwhile the manager Usafi market James Lwanga explained that the meeting was only for the 170 shop owners(work spaces) and their tenants to resolve their disputes but not the stall vendors.
He also promised to organise a meeting to hear and forge the way forward for the stall vendors adding that today’s meeting in the City Hall can’t cater for all the 2700 stall vendors .
The situation was later calmed down by both the KCCA enforcement team and police
