Christians across all religions and faith have been called upon to help the needy during and after this Lenten period.
The call has been sounded by the Bishop for the Evangelical Orthodox Church EOC Jacinto Kibuuka . Bishop Kibuuka who urged Christians to practice the three principles of Lenten period which include real fasting, helping or giving to the needy and repenting, said that the act of arms giving or getting from what you have to help the needy brings about God’s forgiveness and immense God’s blessings.
He also said that the Lenten period is a season to meditate upon oneself and renewal in Jesus Christ hence urging everyone to take the Lenten period as a key and important pillar in Christianity.
”This is the season to turn to God as its written in Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek the LORD while he may be found, call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon” said Bishop Kibuuka
