Uganda media fraternity on Wednesday morning woke up to unfortunate news of the passing on of Veterans journalists uncle Dick Mulima Ssempaka.
Uncle Dick has been on the air waves for the last over 50 years at the state owned Uganda broadcasting cooperation UBC, specifically radio Uganda, star FM and Star TV.
At the age of 72, Uncle Dick has succumbed to diabetes and hypertension at one of the clinics in Namasuba Wakiso district.
His body is expected to be taken to UBC for friends, former work mates and journalists to pay the last tributes, before proceeding to St Apollo Church Of Uganda Namasuba Kikajjo for a funeral service at 4 pm. Ssempaka will be buried Thursday at Luswa along Mubende road.
“The fourth estate mourns along with the bereaved family upon the death of a father,a teacher,a mentor to hundreds in our Generation, and above all an edutainer.
Uncle Dic Mulima Ssempaka will surely be missed for his humorous style of presentation dedicated service to this generation.” The Uganda Journalists Association UJA president Hajji Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira reads in parts.
It should be noted that during the reshuffles at UBC early this year, Uncle Dick was among the many old guards sent into retirement.
