Village chairman forced out of office for aiding theft

The Local Council One (LCI) chairman of Cinaa village in Uriama sub-county, Terego district has been suspended from office by locals following numerous allegations of theft and incompetence. Mr Primo Drapari Ayiga will stay out of office until investigations against him are completed. According to Uriama sub county chairman, Mr Lonzino Itrima, the accused LC1 chairman should step aside until a conclusion is drawn after investigations into the allegations are complete.

“I don’t want the LC1 chairman to endorse any document and no one should approach him for any service, I have taken this decision on public demand and there should be proper investigation into this matter because this is the worst village with high rate of theft out of the 45 villages in the sub-county,” Itrima said.

The youth chairman of the village Mr Anthony Andama while presenting the allegations in a consultative meeting on Sunday accused the chairman of promoting theft.

“The LC1 chairman and his security secretary are promoting theft in our village by writing animal movement permits and keeping stolen animals, selling lost and found animals with few executives and staying with suspected thieves. He has failed to organise village meetings, he is segregative, scarce, informs suspects before arrest and over charges owners of lost animals,” Andama read.
