Speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has reiterated her earlier statement not respect court orders that don’t deserve respect.
The speaker made remarks during the opening of the new law year at high court in Kampala where she also revealed the soon vetting of appointed dignitaries by the president will be made public following the rules committee recommendations in parliament.
Kadaga said once this is passed it will serve as a relief to her since she is also tired of keeping the outcomes in the vetting committee as secrets.
“I do hope that members of parliament will support this proposal because it a relief of keeping people’ secret since the rules of procedure only allow me to give reasons to the appointing authority” said Kadaga
She also appealed to the judiciary to put more efforts in mediation and taking justice to rural areas. However contrary to Kadaga’ words, the attorney general William Byaruhanga appealed to the public to always respect court order and uphold the rule of law and the three arms of government to remain independent and respect each other.
