Workers’ MP Kunihira cautions Lukwago against a move to fire KCCA staff.

Female workers’ member of parliament Hon. Agnes Kunihira has trashed the Kampala lord Mayor Erias Lukwago threats of firing the current Kampala Capital City Authority KCCA staff over alledged irregularities in acquisition of their jobs.
Hon. Kunihira says as long as the staff at KCCA possess the required qualifications, appointment letters and contracts, the Lord mayor has no mandate to fire them until their contracts expire or they breach them.
She also advised Lukwago not to be tempted to carry on with the same move since it will highly cost government and KCCA in terms of compensation for unfair termination of contracts.
She further called for calm amongst the KCCA staff since after the expiration of their contracts they can reapply and they will stand high chances to have them renewed if they performed well.
Commenting about the resignation of KCCA executive director Janifer Musis Ssemakula, hon. Kunihira described her as a hard working person who has tried her best to bring about sanity and order in the city.
