2025 Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) Exhibition Opens in Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan– he Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) Exhibition for this year opened yesterday at Big Sight Exhibition Centre in Tokyo Japan.

Several coffee companies from Uganda are participating in the event under exhibition space secured by Uganda Embassy in Tokyo. These include Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU), Mountain Harvest and Just Know Your Coffee (JKCC).

Alongside these is Crystal Coffee and Gorilla Highland Coffee two of the Japanese companies which import and process Uganda coffee in Japan.

Also participating in the exhibition is the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries who will conduct an 80-minute seminar titled “Discovering Uganda’s

Coffee: From Bean to Cup” as part of the initiative to enhance awareness on Uganda coffee in Japan and its share in the growing coffee market in Japan.

The seminar will involve both presentations and networking sessions as well as coffee cupping and brewing methods demonstrations.

The opening of the Exhibition was marked by addresses from the president of the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan and the Governor of Tokyo as well as the cutting of the ribbon.

The cutting of the ribbon was performed by officials from the Specialty Coffee Association and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as well as Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of selected coffee producing countries.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Japan, Her Excellency Kaahwa Tophace was one of the Heads of Missions who participated in the cutting of the ribbon on behalf of Uganda.

The Exhibition is being held under the theme of “Belonging Together in Coffee” to reflect the need of extending the focus of these exhibitions beyond quality improvement to fostering a society where humanity lives together supporting each other through coffee, respecting diversity and inclusion and fulfilling a responsibility to the global environment and handing over a sustainable future to next generation.
