BC has issued 7092 invitations to seek for a provincial nomination since the beginning of 2021
On August 10, the province of British Columbia asked 51 immigrants working in critical technical vocations to apply for a provincial nomination.
Fresh invitations has been made through the BC PNP Tech. Those chosen in BC PNP’s Tech draws must fulfil the requirements of one of the Express Entry BC or Skills immigration categories governed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Candidates in this draw had to have a provincial score of at least 80 and be from the Skilled Worker or International Graduate category. Candidates who have been invited to apply for the nomination must do so within 30 days.
British Columbia’s PNP Tech program
Following a labour market study, the BC PNP Tech was launched as a pilot program in May 2017, with the most pressing issue affecting BC’s technology industry being access to talent. Because of the success of the project, British Columbia recently announced that it will become a permanent program. As a consequence, the province has decided to prolong and rebrand the BC PNP Tech pilot program permanently, allowing BC technology businesses to continue to seek and hire foreign talent when suitable competent persons are not available locally.

This fast-track immigration program is open to in-demand IT employees and international students. Candidates must be registered in one of BC’s existing provincial immigration streams and have a valid 12-month work offer in one of 29 recognized occupations to qualify for this stream.
Contrary to the other British Columbia PNP streams, employment offers under the BC PNP Tech must be for at least one year, with at least 120 days left when applying to the BC PNP. It must also be full-time and from a province-approved employer.
On a weekly basis, the province’s tech program issues invites to the top-scoring individuals who satisfy the eligibility requirements.
Candidates who are asked to seek a provincial nomination must fill out an application completely. After this is finished, most tech applications will be accepted in two to three months. Candidates who are approved, will get a nomination confirmation letter from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which they can use to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program Class.
