Immigrating to BC in 2024
To be eligible for an invitation under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), you must first confirm your eligibility for the specific stream you’re interested in. For example, Skilled Workers, International Graduates, and Entrepreneurs.
Once confirmed, you’ll need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) online, providing accurate details about your education, work experience, and language skills. If your EOI is selected, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for nomination from BC PNP.
Invitations are based on factors in the BC PNP Points Calculators and generally include:
Skills Immigration
- Education – level and field of education and where it was completed
- Eligible professional designations in B.C.
- Language skills
- Occupation
- Duration and skill level of work experience
- Wage and/or skill level of job offer
- Intent to live, work and settle in a specific region
- Strategic priorities – factors that address specific labour market needs in B.C. or support government pilot projects and initiatives
Entrepreneur Immigration
- The qualified candidate’s registration score
- The specific region in which a candidate proposes to establish a business
- The population size of the community in which the candidate proposes to establish a business
- Whether the proposed business is a start-up or a purchase of an existing business
- Whether the business proposal is aligned with identified priority business sectors
BC PNP draws are conducted every week, typically on a Wednesday. The streams to be targeted, minimum score, and number of invitations are not published beforehand.
In 2023, British Columbia invited over 10,000 candidates across Skills Immigration and Entrepreneur Immigration draws. The province conducted 4-5 draws every month – and the same trend is expected to be followed in 2024 as well.
Currently, 80% of applications under the BC PNP are processed within 12-15 months.
