Support women entrepreneurs for family and national development, Minister Amongi tells men

Men have been called upon always to support Women Entrepreneurs for easy social economic development of the families and country at large.

The call was made by the minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development (GLSD) Betty Amongi during a one day awarenesses and consultative meeting for women Entrepreneurs on how to use Grant money at Serena hotel kampala.

World Bank through the ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) Grow project gave a grant Worth USD 217 million including USD 40 million for refuges and refuges host districts(RHDs) to lend to 60,000 female owned enterprises (including 3,000 refugee owned business) from 135 districts,11 cities and RHDs.

According to minister Amongi, on many occasions men fail to give support to their wives in businesses because of the poor mentality that women with money do not respect husbands.

“The world has moved to other level of civilization and all people are equal meaning women should also work to support development so men just need to support women Entrepreneurs to bring development in the family and country at large” Amongi says

However, she advised women to use the funds well and desist from luxurious lifestyle such that they get profits from the received grant money.

“The money you getting is not for parties, buying clothes but for your social economic development so use it well by keeping records, investing in good businesses and avoid investing in business that upset environment” she concluded.
