Kayima, popularly known as “The Mic Lion,” made the announcement during Friday’s edition of Koona, informing viewers that it would be his final appearance as the show’s host.

“Today is my last day on TV. I have been here a long time, but I feel I understand radio better, and I will spend most of my time at Dembe FM,” Kayima revealed on air.

Over the years, Kayima built a strong following on television, particularly during his time on the popular Twezimbe show on Spark TV. The program, which he co-hosted alongside Isaac Katende, widely known as Kasuku, and Ruth Kalibala, became a favorite among entertainment audiences.

His departure from Koona marks the end of an era for the station, where he has been a prominent face for several years. While stepping away from television, Kayima’s decision signals a renewed focus on radio, where he says he feels more at home.

It remains unclear who will take over hosting duties on Koona following his exit.
