Officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, together with the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) and Gulu City Local Government, have carried out a second inspection of facilities ahead of the upcoming USSSA National Ball Games II scheduled for July 8–18, 2026.
The inspection team, led by Assistant Commissioner for Physical Education Sammy Odongo, visited Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu City to assess the readiness of key facilities that will host the championship.
During the exercise, officials evaluated the condition of playgrounds and accommodation facilities to ensure they meet the required standards for hosting one of the country’s major secondary school sporting events.
Sacred Heart Secondary School – Gulu has been designated as the main host venue for the games, while Gulu High School will serve as the co-host.
According to the organizers, the inspection aims to confirm that all venues are adequately prepared to accommodate teams and officials who will converge in the northern city for the national championships.
The USSSA National Ball Games II bring together top secondary school teams from across the country to compete in various ball sports, making it one of the most anticipated competitions on the school sports calendar.
Gulu City is expected to host hundreds of participants, officials, and fans during the 10-day tournament.
