Kampala– His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, has commended the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) for the cooperation and inclusivity they extend to the broader Muslim community.
The remarks were delivered on the Mufti’s behalf by Hon. Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the UMSC Secretary General, who was the Chief Guest at a well-attended Iftar dinner organized by the Ministry for Muslim staff. The event took place at the National ICT Innovation Hub in Kampala on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Hadji Muluubya highlighted that such gatherings reflect unity, mutual respect, and cooperation—values that align with the country’s aspirations. He added:
“The Holy month of Ramadhan is a special time dedicated to personal reflection, devotion, patience, and compassion to help one another. When we break our fast together in the evening, it reminds us of our core responsibility of serving humanity and promoting justice, which strengthens the bonds that can unite us as a nation.”
He further commended the hosts for their tremendous efforts in advancing communication, innovation, and access to information, noting that these initiatives play a vital role in promoting development, education, and social cohesion in today’s digital age. Hadji Muluubya also expressed gratitude for the regulatory guidance provided by the Ministry and UCC, which ensures that media outlets—including radios, television stations, and social platforms owned by faith-based organizations such as UMSC—can reach the wider public with structured messages that foster harmony, discipline, unity, and constructive citizenship.
He concluded with prayers that this tradition continues, emphasizing that such partnerships are essential for building a stable and prosperous country. On his part, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for ICT & National Guidance, spoke on behalf of the hosts. In his welcoming remarks, he explained the roles of the Ministry and noted that the event was part of the Ministry’s calendar of activities aimed at fostering national unity among citizens of different religious beliefs.
He concluded by urging people worldwide to pray for peace in the Middle East, which is currently engulfed in destructive conflicts that have claimed many lives.
The event was attended by high-profile personalities from various ministries, government offices, and UMSC departments.
