Centenary Group is hosting members of the Muslim community to its annual Iftar dinners across different regions of the country. This is aimed at bringing together religious leaders, scholars, business leaders, and partners in a celebration of faith, unity, and shared prosperity during this holy month of Ramadhan.
The iftar dinners are a part of Centenary Group’s long-standing tradition of supporting the Muslim community across Uganda. For 13 years now, the Group has proudly celebrated the spirit of Ramadhan with the Muslim community across Uganda, reaching a number of cities and districts which include; Kampala, Mbale, Wakiso, Luwero, Arua, Mbarara, Hoima, Bwera, Kasese, Fortportal, Kyegegwa, Masindi, Gulu, Lira, Apac, Koboko, Yumbe, Adjumani, Soroti, Pallisa, Tororo, Busia, Jinja, Iganga, Kayunga, Nagalama, Mukono, Mityana, Lyantonde, Paidha, Nebbi, Wobulenzi.
This year, the Group is in Mbarara, Masindi, Moyo and Obongi, Iganga, Kayunga, Nagalama, Mukono, Mende Kalema foundation in Wakiso, Kagungube Muslim SS in Mityana, Kakungulu Memorial SS, Butambala and Kibuli Muslim Headquarters.
Speaking at one of the dinners at Hotel Africana, Dr. Grace Ssekakubo, CEO of Centenary Technology Services, said that at Centenary Group, in collaboration with their subsidiaries, Centenary Bank, Centenary Technologies, Centenary Foundation, Centenary Property Development and Management and Centenary Bank Malawi, their core purpose is to transform lives and drive sustainable development through inclusive and innovative financial and business solutions.
“We remain committed to serving rural and underserved communities, with a strategic focus on accelerating digital transformation, expanding financial inclusion and promoting sustainable, eco-friendly business practices,” he said.
Centenary Group commits up to 2% of its previous year’s profits to Corporate Social Responsibility, investing in health, education, environmental stewardship, religious projects where Muslim activities fall and other community projects.
Over the years, Centenary Group has partnered with the Muslim community in meaningful and impactful ways. The Group has consistently hosted Iftar dinners, donated food packages and essential supplies to mosques and vulnerable families and provided financial support for religious leadership programs.
“Our support extends to education, backing Muslim-founded schools and institutions, contributing to infrastructure development, and promoting financial inclusion for both students and teachers,” Dr. Ssekakubo said, adding, “Through our SME and Microfinance programs, we continue to empower Muslim entrepreneurs across trade, agriculture, transport, and manufacturing driving enterprise growth and job creation.”
He reiterated Centenary Group’s commitment to delivering inclusive solutions that support entrepreneurs and enterprises across all communities including the Muslim community and Uganda at large.
The event was graced by the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi, who commended Centenary Group for its consistent support to the Muslim community over the years.
