Ugandans Rally Behind Schoolgirl Who Rode Bicycle Through Rain to Attend Classes

Kampala-Ugandans on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, have rallied in support of Angella Blessing Atuhaire, a primary school pupil whose photo riding a bicycle to school in heavy rain has gone viral.

The image, which captured Angella’s determination to attend classes despite harsh weather conditions, has touched many hearts online, sparking widespread admiration and calls for support.

Online users have since launched efforts to trace the young girl, believed to be in Primary Seven, with several individuals pledging to support her education and improve her welfare, as well as that of her family.

Among those who have come forward is socialite Sheilah Gashumba, who pledged to fully sponsor Angella’s education in a boarding school of her parents’ choice until she completes her studies.

Meanwhile, some social media users claim to have spoken to her father, Mr. Nfitumukiza Moses, a boda boda rider based in Kabale. According to these reports, he expressed concern about his daughter riding a bicycle to school, citing safety worries.

The story continues to generate national attention, highlighting both the challenges faced by learners in rural areas and the power of social media in mobilizing support for those in need.
