Bukedea Comprehensive School continued their strong preparations for the upcoming national championship with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Kampala zone champions, Lubiri Secondary School in a friendly match played on the morning of Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Lubiri SS grounds in Kampala.
The closely contested encounter was decided in the second half by substitute Patrick Ssenkusu, who calmly converted a well-taken free kick to hand his side the win. Ssenkusu, who did not start the match, was introduced at the beginning of the second half by head coach Ronald Ssali—a tactical decision that proved decisive.
The match saw both sides display discipline and organization, with limited clear-cut chances in the opening half. Bukedea Comprehensive, however, showed greater composure after the break, eventually capitalizing on a set-piece opportunity that sealed the result.
This victory comes just a day after Bukedea Comprehensive suffered a narrow 2–1 defeat to the Uganda U17 national team in a friendly played on Friday, April 24, 2026, at FUFA Stadium, Kadiiba. In that match, Evra Yusuf opened the scoring for the Cubs before team captain Savior Mungujakisa equalized for Bukedea. However, an unfortunate own goal by left back Ryan Giggs Osinya handed the Uganda U17 side the win.
With these results, Bukedea Comprehensive has now played three friendly matches in their build-up campaign, securing two wins and one loss. Their earlier victory came against Kakamega High School, where they triumphed 2–1 at Bukedea Comprehensive Stadium.
Following their Kampala fixture, the team has traveled to Kayunga for another test match against Mukono zone champions, St. Mark High School Kayunga. The match is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, at St. Mark Playground.
Bukedea Comprehensive is using these matches to fine-tune their squad ahead of the 2026 National Boys Football Championship, set to take place from May 10th to 20th at Lira Town College in Lira. According to the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) program, the tournament draws will be conducted on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the association’s offices in Old Kampala.
With momentum building and key players stepping up, Bukedea Comprehensive appears to be shaping into a formidable contender ahead of the national tournament.
