Uganda’s top athletes are primed for a Thursday packed with high-stakes competitions.
In rugby, Uganda’s men’s 7s team is set for a crucial showdown against Benin at 2pm EAT, followed by a highly anticipated clash with Kenya at 7.50pm EAT.
Meanwhile, the women’s rugby team will face off against Nigeria at 2.44pm EAT and conclude their day against Madagascar at 5.50pm EAT.
Attention will then shift to the women’s football bronze medal match, where the Queen Cranes will lock horns with Senegal in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
In athletics, Uganda’s Abu Salim Mayanja, fueled by dreams of Olympic glory, kicks off his quest in the men’s 1500m alongside compatriot Ronald Musagala, with heats scheduled for 9pm EAT.
The boxing ring will see Muzamir Ssemuddu representing Uganda in a potentially gripping semifinal bout against Egyptian Elsayed Omar in the light middleweight category.
The athletics contingent is not to be overlooked, with Jacent Nyamahunge, Emmanuel Aboda, Allan Ngobi, and Benson Okot navigating their respective 200m round one heats.
