DOKOLO- On Thursday night night , the Electoral Commission declared the results for Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament with Aguti Sarah of Uganda People’s Congress as the winner for the elections which were held on Thursday having polled a total of 23,044 votes.
She was followed by National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) Adongo Janet Rose with 14001 votes, Alwoc Austin Ogwal the daughter of the former MP Cecilia Ogwal who came on Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) with 8168 votes, Ageno Harriet of National Unity Platform (NUP) with 727 votes and Arao Rebbecca an independent polled 439 votes.
“Accordingly, as Returning Officer for Dokolo.Electoral District and in accordance with Section 53 of the
Parliamentary Elections Act, declare Aguti Sarah , who has obtained the largest number of votes winner and District Woman Representative to Parliament, Dokolo Electoral District.”

The total number of votes cast for the whole exercise were 47169 votes, 988 were announced as invalid , 49 votes were spoilt.
The by elections followed the death of the area Woman Member of Parliament Hon Cecilia Ogwal (FDC) who succumbed to cancer on January 18th 2024 in India.
