COUNSELOR’S CORNER.
A male gender is created naturally to dominate both in human beings and in animals.
However, with the changing society women have been emancipated, empowered to come out and compete with men in leadership, business, education and in rare cases family headship and inheritance. This boy who feels his natural entitlement has been robbed, his ego challenged and was never prepared to handle an empowered woman is almost giving up.
If society doesn’t come out to support and empower the boy child to maintain their position of responsibility and headship BUT with respect of the empowered educated woman and girl child, society will eventually lose direction.
Many boys are brought up by single mothers, they grow up thinking that a woman is the provider in a family and when he marries, he expects his wife to provide for the family as his mother used to provide. If a woman begins to provide for the family, the man gets into the comfort zone.
Most mothers are soft to children and this is by nature, Men of the current generation are absentee fathers leaving the sons to be raised as soft as girls by mothers, social media, play stations, house maids and schools who fear to punish or correct your delicate child yet society and culture expects this boy to be strong, to provide almost everything (security, education, shelter, love, sex, bills, etc)
Many young men today are poor at decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotional management, leadership and lack confidence because these have not been trained from childhood.
Men sit back and complain about how all NGOs plus government are supporting and empowering the girl child and leaving behind the boy child but what are you doing at family level as a father.
It starts with you and me in our homes as we parent this important gender which has to be raised to be strong, responsible, open minded, hardworking but still sensitive of their emotional state.
Many girls are not getting married today because boys fear commitment to these empowered educated, assertive and strong-willed women. The empowered, rich educated woman also despises most men who don’t measure up to her standard, she keeps wanting for a better one who doesn’t come until it is too late for her.
Together let’s fight for the boy child empowerment.
Love you all,
Stay blessed.
