How Wangadya’s Leaked Confidential Letter To M7 On Sexual Harassment, Multibillion Fraudulent Land Deals At UHRC Sealed Her Resignation… – Ono Bwino

Alex Bukumuhne the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) spokesperson confirmed the resignation of his boss the Commission national chairperson Mariam Wangadya.Wangadya a former deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG) tendered in her resignation to the appointing authority who also doubles as the President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni on 06th July, 2026 after making a moving statement condemning the President for undermining the powerful government agency which supervises and protects human rights in the country by appointing incompetent members of the public to sit on it.Deputy president press secretary Faruk Kirunda and other government bosses condemned Wangadya for addressing the president through a public forum yet she has the opportunity to seek a private meeting with him to discuss the serious issues she raised including appointing rejected politicians and people looking for jobs to survive who only serve the commission by spreading harmful propaganda.Ono Bwino can exclusively report that Wangadya’s resignation was very confidential.“It was a surprise, even her confidants at the Commission were shocked and did not believe the letter until she confirmed to them,” a source said. She explained that Wangadya told her confidants that her resignation was a very difficult decision for her to take but it was the only option she had.She added that she used her official leave to reflect on her job, her family and the hostile working condition at the Commission which she was heading where staff were sharply divided which resulted from the war declared to them by the three Commissioners who are Steven Mwesige Basaliza, Semeo Nsubuga Muwanga and Jacklet Atuhaire Rwabukurukuru who made different petitions to the president and other top government officials against her.Sources said that the painful factor that shaped Wangadya’s decision to resign was the leaked confidential letter she wrote to the president seeking for his intervention on the two male commissioners who were accused of harassing female staff and making fraudulent dealings at the Commission.“She was devastated when two of the Commissioners named in her petition to the President shared her letter with her before the president even responded to it. She was blocked from accessing the President which deepened her frustration as Commissioners continued throwing malicious accusations at her face using CBS radio and some online publications,” a source said. Her family was scared after she started developing life threatening conditions including high blood pressure and heart complications as she struggled to reach out to Owekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga the Buganda Kingdom premier to intervene and save her from ruthless and spiteful CBS radio editors led by their news editor Alex Nsubuga but she failed. She decided to engage Nsubuga personally to give her side of the story but she was shocked with what was broadcasted on Kabaka’s radio which worsened her health condition. She was advised by her family especially her elder son who is plying his trade in China to resign.“She put her life on line when she was pressurized to resign when Bobi Wine and National Unity Platform (NUP) members and supporters declared a media war on her. She was also accused of shielding Museveni government officials who were violating their human rights,” a source said.Sources said that Wangadya wanted the President to summon her and the accused Commissioners to discuss the content in her petition including allegations that one of the male Commissioners on two occasions during their upcountry sitting attempted to forcefully rape her personal assistant.Sources said that the Commission was in Northern Uganda when the incident happened. The male commission raided the hotel room where Wangadya’s assistant was sleeping and forcedly attempted to rape her but she was saved by a room attendant. The assistant brought the matter to Wangadya’s audience but when she summoned the male Commissioner, he was very angry and accused her of having personal issues with him and even reminded her of the previous times when she summoned him over a man who was accusing him snatching his wife.In another separate incident, she grilled him over allegation of bribery, corruption and witchcraft insisting that the allegations were fake and were being peddled by his political opponents who were using her to settle their political scores against him. There was also the issue of fraudulent deals which were initiated by some of the Commissioners and technical officials to fraudulently sell off the Commission’s land situated a long Buganda Road which housed the Commission headquarters before they shifted to Twed plaza then JLOS building.Sources claim that the Commissioners are fronting two private companies to enter a fraudulent deal with the Commission that is why she wanted the President to intervene before the deal is sealed off.Sources said that chances are high that Wangadya might be arrested and charged with offences related to abuse of office noting that on several occasions, she has been receiving warnings from agents of the legislators she testified against in the courts of law on charges of corruption and abuse of office. The legislators were Paul Akamba and Cissy Namujju the Lwengo district woman Member of Parliament who publicly assured Wangadya that she will revenge on her., https://onobwino.com/untold-story-how-wangadyas-leaked-confidential-letter-to-m7-on-sexual-harassment-multibillion-fraudulent-land-deals-at-uhrc-sealed-her-resignation/
