Eriya Tusubira Holds the Line at Uganda Embassy in Nigeria as Investigators from Kampala Raid Mission as part of broader Anita Among Investigations

By Mulengera Reporters
Sometime back President Museveni okayed the recall of Nelson Ocheger and those he was working with from the service of the Ugandan Mission in Nigeria.

This was after a huge fight erupted there over the billions that had been invested into the construction project to build the new embassy premises for Uganda there. After the evacuation of the Ocheger protagonists, things somehow went silent and an impression was created that some untouchables had been protected, and left unaffected yet they too deserved sanctioning.

Eriya Tusubira, the accounting officer for the Mission, was one of those who were directed to keep on ground and ensure that the diplomatic business of the Ugandan people continues to be done. But following the MK-instigated corruption-related problems that befell former Speaker Anita Among, the top leadership at both the Finance and Foreign Affairs Ministries decided that it was time to conclude the Nigeria investigations as part of the preparations for the upcoming purge or else they risk being accused of cover up someday.

So, as recent as last week, following written communication from the PS Vincent Bagire, a delegation of investigators from Kampala, led by MoFA’s head of HR Mr. Mbatya, traveled to Nigeria to revitalize the investigations into what exactly happened at the Ugandan Mission sometime back.

As the disciplinary proceedings were being conducted, Eriya Tusubira, the accounting officer, was at hand and fully cooperated with the investigating team from Kampala. It’s now the investigators’ report that is being awaited as the country counts down to the President releasing the new list of his diplomatic envoys and ambassadors to represent Uganda at the about 37 diplomatic Missions spread across the globe.
