LIFE IS SACRED – OVERCOMING THE SPIRIT OF DEATH AND

Milestone Reached: From Student to Servant Leader a unique testimony of Dr. Ahimbisibwe Gad Rugaju

I am humbled to share that I have completed my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organisational Leadership and was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Christian leadership (DCM) Honoris Causa.

This journey began in Primary School and continued through O’Level, A’Level, a Bachelor’s degree, Postgraduate studies, and a Master’s degree. Each stage was sustained by faith, discipline, and the support of many who believed in the power of education to transform lives.
Today, I have the privilege to serve as Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Kanungu District a role centered on policy implementation, community mobilisation, security coordination, and service delivery.

Three lessons from the journey:

Leadership is stewardship: Titles matter less than the people we serve. Effective leadership listens first, acts with integrity, and measures success by community impact.
Policy only works when people work it: Implementation at the grassroots level turns national vision into local reality. That’s where I am committed to adding value.
Education remains the great equalizer: My story is proof that consistency, mentorship, and a stable environment can take a student from the village classroom to national service.

Gratitude
I am deeply grateful to H.E. General Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, for the trust and opportunity to serve as Deputy RDC. Your leadership in maintaining peace, prioritizing education, and opening space for young professionals to contribute to nation-building has shaped careers like mine. Thank you for your continued investment in Uganda’s human capital.
To students still in school:
Stay the course. The nights are long, but morning comes. Invest in skills, seek mentors, and serve your community early. Uganda needs your ideas, your energy, and your integrity. Your current chapter is not your whole story.
The work continues. To God be the glory.
