According to the Organisers the countdown for the Tickets of Routes & Roots Festival are now live at with limited early bird discounts available online for Uganda’s most ambitious celebration of music, heritage, and tourism.
Set for October 29–31, 2026 at the scenic Lake Saaka Recreation Center in Fort Portal City, the three-day festival transforms the “Tourism City” into a living gallery of Ugandan identity. This is not just a concert. It’s a full-scale adventure where three immersive stages will pulse nonstop: the Afro-fusion main stage, the acoustic “Fireplace” story stage for intimate sets and spoken word, and the “Roots Rewired” arena where EDM meets traditional drums says Mr Timothy Ocen CEO Tio Tours and Travel and Event Director.
With a stacked lineup of Artists local and international ,cultural troupes, DJs, poets, and surprise headliners to be unveiled soon.
Between sets, wander through Cultural Villages built as real Acholi, Buganda, Tooro, Busoga, and Karamojong homesteads. Watch crafts being made, try on traditional fashion, and witness rituals you have only heard about.
When hunger hits, Taste Uganda at 50+ food villages serving everything from luwombo to malakwang, plus Tooro coffee cuppings and rare local delicacies.
Festival founder Timothy Ocen says the mission is personal.
“We want to bring people back to their roots,”_ Ocen said at the Kampala launch. “It is not just a concert, it is so much more than that. It is adventure the kind you feel in your chest and remember for years.”
For those who want more than music, Adventure Add-ons run all weekend: sunrise crater lake hikes, boda city tours through Fort Portal, Mabere Caves excursions, and even hot air balloon rides over the Tooro landscape. As night falls, Night Markets & Art Streets light up with 100+ artisans, designers, and storytellers under fairy lights, while the Family Zone keeps kids busy with drumming circles, face painting, and heritage games.
According to Timothy Ocen, Event Director, this edition will feature all cultures of Uganda from Karamoja to Kigezi, Acholi to Ankole. “This is a homecoming for the whole nation,”he said. “We call upon people from all regions to buy early bird tickets that are online and discounted. Fort Portal was handpicked to launch the festival for its crater lakes, royal Tooro heritage, and unmatched natural beauty. Future editions will tour other regions, but 2026 belongs to the west.
