The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has undergone a significant leadership change following the appointment of Fadil Twalla as the organization’s new Secretary General.
The appointment was announced by PLU Chairman and Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as part of an ongoing effort to reorganize and strengthen the movement’s leadership structures.
Twalla takes over from David Kabanda, who has served as one of the most prominent figures within PLU since its formation. During his tenure, Kabanda played a central role in coordinating the organization’s activities, mobilizing supporters, and communicating the movement’s positions on a range of political issues.
The leadership transition comes at a time when PLU is seeking to consolidate its structures and expand its influence across the country. In recent months, the movement has intensified efforts to streamline its operations, strengthen internal coordination, and prepare for future political engagements.
Although no official explanation has been provided regarding Kabanda’s departure from the position, the appointment of Twalla has sparked discussion among political observers about the direction the organization intends to take under its new administrative leadership.
Many will be watching closely to see how the change affects PLU’s activities and its relationship with other political actors.
Twalla now assumes responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day administration of the movement and implementing the strategic vision of its leadership. His appointment is expected to play a key role in shaping PLU’s next phase of growth and national mobilization efforts.
The latest changes underscore PLU’s determination to remain an influential force in Uganda’s political landscape as it continues to strengthen its organizational structures and broaden its support base nationwide.
