President Paul Kagame Appoints Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa as new RDF Spokesperson

Brig Gen Karuretwa replaces Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, who in May assumed office as Director of the Eastern African Standby Force, a regional security mechanism headquartered in Kenya.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame has appointed Brigadier General Patrick Karuretwa as the new spokesperson of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), the military announced on Wednesday, June 17.

Brig Gen Karuretwa replaces Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, who in May assumed office as Director of the Eastern African Standby Force, a regional security mechanism headquartered in Kenya.

According to the RDF, Brig Gen Karuretwa will serve concurrently as Defence Spokesperson and Director General for International Military Cooperation at Rwanda’s Ministry of Defence.
The appointment places Brig Gen Karuretwa at the forefront of the RDF’s public communication efforts while maintaining his role in strengthening Rwanda’s military partnerships and international defence engagements.
