Gaddafi staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Express FC 3-2 in a thrilling match that could prove crucial for their Uganda Premier League survival.
The victory keeps their hopes of avoiding relegation alive as they head into the final game of the season.
The game started brightly for Gaddafi when Frank Mulimi converted a penalty in the second minute, giving his team an early lead.
However, Express quickly responded, with Isaac Wagoina netting twice in rapid succession in the sixth and 14th minutes, putting the visitors 2-1 ahead.
Gaddafi’s persistence paid off in the second half. Baker Buyala leveled the score in the 78th minute, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
But the decisive moment arrived in the 90th minute when David Bagoole found the back of the net, securing a crucial win for Gaddafi.
With this result, Gaddafi moved to 14th place on the league table, still in the relegation zone but now level on 25 points with Busoga United.
But Busoga United are just above Gaddafi due to a superior head-to-head record.
The fight for survival has gone down to the wire. Gaddafi’s fate is not entirely in their hands; they must win their final match away to Kitara and hope that Busoga United does not secure a victory against BUL.
However, with both Gaddafi and Busoga facing title chasing opponents, UPDF could be the ones to capitalize if they manage a win against Wakiso Giants.
