Warid yearns for global stage as music, dance and drama trainer

You can spend an entire day listening to Andrew Warid’s enthusiasm for music, dance and drama.

At the end of it all, his dream can be distilled into one desire: To conquer the world as a music, dance and drama professional.

At 30 years of age, Warid is already a certified music, dance and drama trainer but international fame has eluded him.

“I want to be recognized internationally and showcase African music and culture at the global level,” says Warid who hails from Fort Portal in the western part of Uganda.

Warid lives in Kampala and trains music, dance and drama at Islamic University in Uganda.

He says for many years, he has watched local and international films and plays and he believes some lack something.

That is why, given his skills, he is confident he can compete on the global stage.

“I believe I can compete and I can develop something new to the world when it comes to training in music and drama mainly when it comes to students,” Warid says.

He says music has earned him a living and he is not complaining.

Using the earnings from his music,  Warid has been able to educate him elf and become a professional trainer.

“I have even helped communities such as churches and older people in my village through my talent,” he says.

In future Warid wants to build a school where he can impart his music, dance and drama skills.

“I know that with God everything will come true,” he says.
