The citizens in Cameroon were shocked when the daughter of their President Paul Biya made a declaration that she is a lesbian.
Brenda Biya said that she was forced to publicly declare what has been a secret with interests to help change the law banning same-sex relationships in her country.
Biya says there are many people in her situation in Cameroon and she hopes to inspire them. The 27-year-old recently shared an image of her kissing another woman, sparking mixed reactions across Cameroon.
According to the laws in Cameroon, same-sex relationships are criminal and punishable if found guilty by a sentence of up to five years in prison.
