Group C leaders Ceylon Lions and Wanderers continued with their winning streaks in the National Men’s T20 League following their respective victories against Africa Cricket Club and Patidar on Sunday.
The Lions who remain the only unbeaten side in their group beat ACC by 115 runs in the morning before seeing out the same side by 7 wickets in the afternoon at Entebbe Oval.
The duo of Hamu Kayondo and Charles Musemeza knocked tons of 91 and 92 respectively as they eased past ACC who remain winless and bottom of the group.
Cricket Cranes pace bowler Juma Miyaji did the business with the ball for Ceylon. The 21-year-old plucked four wickets as his side bowled out their opponents for just 64 in the second game.
Wanderers on the other hand beat Patidar by 63 runs and 8 wickets at Lugogo Cricket Oval to topple the side from the top of Group B. Vinod Patel (54), Sharif Suleiman (40) and Amanpreet Singh (37) all contributed to Wanderers’ total of 182/7 in the morning game while Savtoj Shammi with four wickets led with the ball.
Suleiman with 51 and Patel with 39 were also handy with bat in the afternoon. Their captain Ivan Kakande, however, with three wickets impressed with the ball. Shammi and Mohammed Shaaf each picked two wickets in that game.
The two wins move Wanderers to the top of Group B. They remain the only team in the group with 100% win rate, and are on 12 points.
Patidar with 10 points drop second, and are in danger of missing out on a place in the Super Eight. They are currently four points clear of third placed Tornado, but with their games exhausted, they have played four games more than Tornado.
Jinja Association Cricket Club lost by 7 wickets to Ismaili Community, but their 43-run win against the same side in the morning keeps them in contention for a place in the Super Eight. The win kept them second in Group C with 8 points, two ahead of third placed Rounders.
