*Nam Blazers 75-68 KIU Titans (2-2)
UCU Lady Canons have secured their spot in the National Basketball League finals after a decisive victory over the KIU Rangers in the semifinals series.
The Lady Canons clinched the series with a 3-1 win after triumphing in Thursday’s Game Four, 58-43, at Lugogo.
The Rangers struggled during the second and third quarters, managing only five and eight points, respectively.
Their poor shooting from beyond the arc, hitting just 3-of-25, compounded their difficulties. Despite a valiant effort, they were also out-rebounded 55-47, which further tilted the game in favor of the Lady Canons.
Tracy Namugosa led the scoring for the Lady Canons with 11 points, while Hajara Najjuko and Aziidah Nabayunga each contributed nine points in a low-scoring affair.
On the other side, KIU’s point guard Namuleme Fildauce was the top scorer for her team with 12 points, and Ines Kanyamunza added nine points and nine rebounds.
With this victory, the Lady Canons now await the winner between the JKL Lady Dolphins and JT Lady Jaguars in the finals. The JKL Lady Dolphins currently hold a 2-1 lead in their semifinal series.
Meanwhile, the KIU Rangers, who were runners-up in last year’s finals, will have to settle for a third-place playoff against the loser of the JKL-JT matchup.
