Uganda Premier League giants Express FC has entered a deal with SEMABET Uganda as its kit sponsor for the new 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season.
The partnership, launched as part of SEMABET’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, is initially set for one year, with an option for renewal.
Under the agreement, SEMABET will supply a comprehensive range of playing and training kits valued at UGX 500,000,000.
This sponsorship marks a significant boost for the Red Eagles, aiding in the club’s operational enhancements and competitive performance.
The funds will support squad development, technical staff, infrastructure improvements, and community projects.
They join a list of shirt sponsors at the club in recent momory including BetSure, DStv, Betway among others.
Andrew Kitamirike, Head of Operations at Semabet Uganda, commented, “Our CSR initiative is focused on elevating Express on and off the pitch. Partnering with Express aligns with our commitment to supporting grassroots football and engaging with the Ugandan football community.”
Notably, the partnership has already facilitated the transfer of roving left-back Mustafa Kizza who joined the club after ending his stay from KCCA.
Kitamirike also highlighted SEMABET’s broader CSR efforts, including a sustainable development project in Kyamukola village, Kabarole District.
“Our CSR contributions extend beyond football. We have provided clean water access through an electric-powered well and a 20,000-litre reservoir tank in Kyamukola, addressing vital community needs.”
Express CEO Miiro Ashraf described the new partnership as ‘game-changer’.
“Semabet’s support will help us invest in our squad, technical staff, infrastructure, and community programs, giving us a competitive edge as we aim for the Uganda Premier League title.”
The team will use this new Semabet-branded kits this season, starting with opening match of the season against newly promoted Mbale Heroes FC on Monday at 7:00 PM at the newly renovated HAMZ Stadium Nakivubo.
Under coach Baker Mbowa, the Red Eagles who have also acquired Saidi Kyeyune and Emmanuel Alex Wasswa among the big names, will hope to improve from their 12th place finish last season.
