- Which program you are invited to apply for, and
- What to do next.
You will be asked to provide proof of the information you gave while creating your Express Entry profile. IRCC will then assess whether the information you submit in your Canada PR application matches the one you provided in your Express Entry profile. Express Entry Draws: Complete List
Types of Express Entry Draws
In 2024, IRCC will conduct three types of Express Entry draws.
- General Express Entry draws: In general Express Entry draws, IRCC selects candidates from the pool who are eligible for one of the three streams managed under the Express Entry program.
- Program-specific Express Entry draws: In program-specific Express Entry draws, IRCC selects candidates from the pool who are eligible for a specific Express Entry stream linked with a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
- Category-based Express Entry draws: In category-based Express Entry draws, IRCC selects candidates from the pool by establishing a category to meet a specific economic goal.
Categories Finalized for Express Entry Draws in 2024
On May 31, 2023, IRCC finalized six new categories for Express Entry draws. These categories were chosen after considering labour market predictions and consulting with various partners, stakeholders, and provincial & territorial governments. The categories chosen for Express Entry draws in 2024 include:
- French-language proficiency
- Healthcare occupations
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations
- Trade occupations
- Transport occupations
- Agriculture and Agri-Food occupations
IRCC ranks candidates in the Express Entry pool using a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). In an Express Entry draw, IRCC:
- Chooses the type of invitation round,
- Decide the number of candidates to be invited,
- Identify the highest-ranking candidates from the pool, and
- Invite candidates to apply for Canada PR visa.
Your chances of receiving an invitation to the upcoming Express Entry draws will entirely depend on your CRS score. The higher your score, the more your chances of gaining Canadian permanent residency.
