Stream for Entrepreneurs in Nova Scotia
The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur stream seeks people with previous company ownership or senior management experience in Nova Scotia. They must reside in Nova Scotia, create a new business or purchase an existing one, and actively engage in the day-to-day administration of that firm.
Candidates in the Entrepreneur stream are given a temporary work visa before applying for Canadian permanent residency after a year of running their firm. The stream employs an Expression of Interest structure, in which individuals from a pool are asked to apply.

Candidate Requirements for the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream
- You must be at least 21 years old
- Want to live in Nova Scotia permanently while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business
- A minimum net worth of $600,000 is required
- A minimum investment of $150,000 is required to start or buy a business in Nova Scotia
- Minimum of three years’ experience actively managing and operating a firm (with at least 33% ownership) OR more than five years’ experience in a senior business management capacity
- Score a minimum of 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmark in English or French speaking, listening, reading, and writing
International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream in Nova Scotia
The International Graduate Entrepreneur stream is comparable to the Entrepreneur stream, however, it is reserved for recent graduates of a Nova Scotia institution or community college. They must have created or bought a Nova Scotia firm and run it for a year while holding a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
If a candidate intends to settle in the province, he or she is nominated for permanent residency. The stream operates similarly to the Entrepreneur stream, using an Expression of Interest format.

Candidate Requirements for the International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

- Have a degree or certificate that includes a minimum of two academic years of full-time, on-campus study at a Nova Scotia institution or a Nova Scotia Community College

- Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark score of 7 in speaking, hearing, reading, and writing in English or French
