British Columbia PNP Tech Draw invites 68 immigrants

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has invited 68 skilled workers in the Information Technology sector to apply for provincial nomination on June 1.

The new invitations were issued as part of the BC PNP’s technology pilot project. This means that eligible applicants must meet the requirements of one of the Express Entry BC and Skills BC immigration categories, which are managed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Those invited to today’s draw were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduates subcategories and had to achieve a minimum provincial score of 80.

Invited applicants have 30 calendar days to apply. The province has now invited 4,876 potential immigrants in 2021.

British Columbia introduced the Tech Pilot project in May 2017, after a market survey found that the province’s tech sector is facing a major issue in accessing skilled talent.

Since its inception, the pilot project has been very successful and has resulted in the application of over 6,000 potential immigrants for permanent residence. Building on its success, the technological pilot project has been extended every year for 4 years.

After receiving requests from stakeholders and various employers in the I.T sector, BC PNP has decided to make the Tech pilot project permanent instead of extending it again.

Once a candidate has submitted their application for provincial nomination to BC PNP, it will be processed within two to three months.

If approved, applicants will receive a confirmation of appointment which can be used to apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Program.
