CRS score cut-off set at 302 points for latest Alberta PNP

0

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) issues 200 invitations to Express Entry candidates in the latest provincial draw held on April 6.

Candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 302 points which is one point more than the previous Alberta PNP draw. For a candidate to get an invitation, they must have a valid Express Entry profile.

Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination, automatically assigned 600 CRS points added to their express entry profile. If the lowest-rated candidates in the new Alberta draw receive the nomination, their new CRS scores will be 902 points.

Basics on AINPs Enhanced stream – Alberta Express Entry Stream

AINPs Express entry stream is in line with the federal government’s Express entry program. This allows the express candidates who have strong ties to the province or can support the province’s priorities for diversification and economic development, apply for provincial nomination. AINP is only considering candidates who are currently residing or working in the province, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applicants must also have work experience in a qualifying occupation. Alberta only issues a list of ineligible occupations for the stream’s requirements.

On November 1, 2020, the federal government increased the number of occupations that are not eligible for a Labor Market Impact Assessment in Alberta. However, applicants who received an invitation on or after November 1, 2020, can still be selected through the Alberta Express Entry stream, even if they work in a profession for which LMIA is not processed by the federal government.

Alberta has been authorized to issue 6,250 nomination certificates in 2020. But, because of the pandemic, allocations have been reduced to 4,000 nominations. All of these nominations were issued in June 2020, which is why there was no draw for the second half of the year.

The AINP has yet to release the number of provincial nominee allocations for Alberta in 2021.
