British Columbia PNP invites 74 immigrants in latest Tech draw

British Columbia Provincial Nomination Program (BC PNP) invited 74 immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR Visa on February 9.

BC PNP Tech Pilot draw issued invitations to applicants in the BC Express Entry and Skills immigration categories. All the invited candidates under the Skilled Worker and International Graduates were required to have a minimum of 80 points.

The latest tech draw held on February 9, had the minimum points required in the low 80s, which has been the case with tech pilot draws since the start of 2021.

BC PNP’s Tech pilot provides a fast-track immigration pathway for skilled immigrants who have work experience in an in-demand IT profession as well as for international students.

Get a Free Express Entry Assessment

It was launched in 2017 and had been extended until June 2021.

For you to be eligible for this program, you must have applied for a provincial nomination through any one of BC PNP’s existing immigration streams and have a valid job offer of a minimum of 12 months of duration in one of 29 eligible occupations in the Tech pilot.

To apply under BC PNP’s Skills immigration or EEBC, you have to create an online profile and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

All the online profiles are then assessed and are awarded points that determine whether they get an invitation in the next rounds of invitations. Points are awarded based on other factors like years of direct work experience, education level, and having a job offer in the province.

Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination for BC PNP, are awarded an extra 600 CRS points that effectively guarantees an ITA to apply for Canada PR Visa in future express entry draw.

IRCC holds express entry draws generally twice a month and invites 4,000 immigrants to apply for Canada PR Visa.

The last Express Entry draw, held on January 21, resulted in 4,626 invitations to apply for permanent residence – one of the largest rounds of invitations since the system was launched in 2015. So far this year, IRCC issued 10,000 ITAs and said it will continue to make efforts to accommodate high levels of new immigrants in the years to come and beyond.

So far in 2021, British Columbia has 6 draws across its various PNP categories and streams and has invited over 800 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. Invited applicants have 30 calendar days to apply.
