Iggy Azalea has made the decision to step away from the music scene temporarily, opting to cancel her upcoming album as she prioritizes her creative pursuits beyond music.
Sharing a detailed letter with fans on Twitter/X in the early hours of Wednesday (January 3), the Australian rapper explained her choice to put her music career on hold for now.
Starting with a playful warning, she wrote, “This is gonna be long…so only bother reading if you love me. (If you still bother anyway you’re a weirdo who has been warned. [shrug and laughing emojis]) I’ve always been someone who finds my joy in being creative & seeing my ideas come to life. For a long time, I used music to deliver my big crazy ideas to the world.”
Azalea clarified that she was not bullied away from music, debunking a common perception. She revealed a stronger passion for design and creative direction over songwriting, expressing her happiness when focusing on those aspects of her career.
“I’m not going to finish my album. It’s been paused for a few months while I was giving direction for a different project & in truth I just haven’t felt the urge to go back to it. I feel really happy & passionate in my day-to-day life when my mind’s focused on that and so I want to stick to what’s undeniably best for me,” she added.
Concluding her message, she mentioned her excitement about sharing unconventional projects she’s been involved in and hoped fans would see her quirk and humor in her new ventures.
When asked for more details, Azalea teased that she’s working on “cool weird stuff” and has been in this new creative space for a while but felt it was time to share it.
Iggy Azalea had previously considered stepping away from music after her 2021 project, “The End of An Era,” but later changed her mind. She returned with the single “Money Come” in August 2023, and her focus has shifted towards various creative endeavors beyond music.
In November, it was disclosed that Iggy Azalea, surpassing celebrities like Cardi B and Tyga, emerged as the highest earner on OnlyFans, amassing a staggering $48 million for 2023. For a monthly subscription fee of $25, fans gain exclusive access to uncensored content, including photos, videos, illustrations, poetry, and music from the Australian star.

As much as you enjoyed it, I did as well. You are looking forward to what is going to happen next, despite the fact that the picture and the writing are both good. Should you choose to defend this walk, it will be essentially the same each and every time.
