Maverick city lawyer Male Mabirizi panicked as Kanyanya Chief State Attorney Sharon Sarah Nambuya ordered for his arrest because he was using his phone to record Court proceedings when National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro and Sauda Madada were being charged with unlawful drilling.

Mabirizi laughed at Nambuya insisting that she has no powers to order for his arrest. It was not until Nambuya placed the entire security at Kanyanya Chief Magistrate Court on alert to arrest him.

They started monitoring his movements as he tried to look for an escape route.

As Mabirizi was moving out to pick a plastic chair, he was surrounded by policemen but he narrowly survived them when he entered the Courtroom, breathing copiously. He moved directly to counsel Evens Ochieng who was leading the defence lawyers and pleaded with him to inform the presiding magistrate Damalie Agumasiimwe that Nambuya has ordered for his arrest claiming that the orders were issued by her.

Counsel Ochieng first refused to raise Mabirizi’s concern as he drove his submissions on the application to release the accused persons on bail. Mabirizi went back to the bar and pleaded with counsel Sam Muyizzi to raise his concern claiming that security wanted to kidnap him inside the courtroom.

Immediately, Ochieng raised the concern and the magistrate clarified that she never ordered for Mabirizi’s arrest.

Mabirizi was not settled and looked scared as the matter was nearing adjournment.

He pleaded to counsel Muyizzi to escort him with other lawyers to move out of the court premises fearing that when he moves alone, he may be kidnapped.

The policemen whp were still working on the old orders again attempted to arrest him and counsel Muyizzi pleaded with them to let the serial litigant go noting that the magistrate had clarified that she had never ordered for his arrest

However, one of the senior police officers who was in command of the entire security issued a last warning to Mabirizi.

“Mabirizi, this should be the last time you bring your arrogance here. I will arrest you. Who are you to abuse every person,” the charged police commander warned.

A seemingly scared Mabirizi asked the police boss what crime he had committed. When he reached Kampala-Gayaza Road, he thanked Muyizzi and he jumped on a bodaboda which sped off.

Since his release from Luzira prison where he spent 18 months serving his contempt of court sentence which given to him by Justice Musa Ssekaana, Mabirizi has survived several arrests after security especially at Court accused him of recording court proceedings yet he is not a journalist

Mabirizi assured this website that he is going to take legal action against Nambuya including filing a complaint with her bosses at the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) and Public Services.
