Betty Kamya dumped  , as Museveni appoints High Court Judge as the New IGG

KAMPALA– The appointment was announced Tuesday by Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Kirunda Faruk, confirming that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has entrusted her with one of the country’s most critical accountability roles.

“H.E @KagutaMuseveni, in exercise of his constitutional powers, has appointed Hon. Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG), replacing Hon. Beti Olive Namisango Kamya.” reads part of the announcement

However the Deputy IGGs, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Mrs. Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe have were maintained in the same positions.

“Accordingly, the names of the appointees have been forwarded to Parliament for vetting.”

Betty Kamya’s four year tenure will be expiring this month.

Bio

Born in 1977, Studied Law at Makerere University, Kampala.

She served as a senior state attorney in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), where she handled high-profile cases.

Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, the current Judge High Court Land Division, Kampala, has long been viewed within Uganda’s legal circles as a disciplined, impartial, and deeply principled jurist.

She is known as a principled judge with the highest degree of integrity.

While in Judiciary, she has held several key judicial roles, including a notable tenure as a Resident Judge in the High Court’s Criminal Division. She has handled a number of complex and often high-profile cases involving land fraud, abuse of office, and intricate commercial disputes.

Before joining Judiciary, she was  in private practice, where she sharpened her litigation and advisory skills before transitioning into public service.
