The territorial police in Masindi are investigating a disturbing case of aggravated child torture that occurred on October 22, 2025, in Tantara village, Kyakamese Parish, Pakanyi Sub-county in which a 9-year-old female juvenile, Akao Mefia, was allegedly burnt on the mouth with a burning charcoal by her biological mother, Akello Everlyne, who accused her of eating groundnuts belonging to a neighbor.
According to SP Julius Allan Hakiza PRO Albertine, the case was reported to Masindi Police Station on October 26, 2025, at 3:45 AM.A case of Aggravated Child Torture was registered, and investigations commenced.
Hakiza says the victim received medical attention, and the suspect was arrested and detained. Witness statements have been recorded, and investigations are ongoing.
The officer urge the public to prioritize children’s safety and well-being and refrain from using torture or abuse as a form of discipline.
“This case highlights the importance of creating a safe environment for children, free from abuse and exploitation. Let’s work together to protect our children,” SP Julius Allan Hakiza PRO Albertine stated.
