His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje the Mufti of Uganda, urged the Gov’t authorities that align with transport to intensify efforts in sensitizing the wider public on the appropriate usage of the roads and enforce the traffic rules and regulations, otherwise, more Ugandan lives are to perish due to bad driving on many Ugandan roads which are mostly done by Motocycle- Boda boda riders. This was part of Mufti’s brief remarks he shared with the family of Counsel Muhammad Mwasa, a staff of the Inspectorate of Government (IG) and son of Sheikh Abdu Obeid Kamulegeya, the Chairman of the Shuura Council.
The Mufti had gone to console the family upon the passing of Ms Yusrah Nakato, wife of Counsel Mwasa, and she was a daughter of Sheikh Abdurahman Kigenyi, a prominent Muslim cleric in Busoga region, a cousin to His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti and director of Okasha Muslim schools established in Mbikko, Buikwe District.
The late Yusrah Nakato died instantly last Friday due to severe body injuries she sustained in a fatal accident as she was returning from work in the evening. The family dedicated memorial prayers in her memory, which were attended by close relatives and friends at their family residence in Kawali village, Lweza B in Wakiso District off Kampala – Entebbe Highway, on Tuesday, February 11th 2026.
The Mufti pleaded in his speech while turning his face towards Haj Jamal Basalirwa, commissioner in charge of Protocol in the Uganda Police Force, and Muzafaru Burhan Zirabamuzaale, the senior Administrator in charge of Logistics at Police Headquarters, that something has to be done about the rampant deaths of very energetic and young citizens caused by fatal accidents cause especially by reckless motocyle ridiers in most cities and towns as if there no regulations that could deter them.
“I’m a skilled driver, but so afraid to drive myself during leisure time because of reckless boda riders”, Mufti disclosed in the amusement of his attentive listeners.
Additionally, Mufti recited several Holy Quranic verses that encourage the faithful to know that death is innervertable so live in preparation to meet it anytime. He also expressed his heart felt satisfaction after hearing the moving testimony of the widower Counsel Mwasa praising the late Yusrah that she was a God conscious loving, humble and gentle soul who fulfilled her obligations as a house wife, was a good sign being blesed with the divine grace enroute to paradise as taught by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon that God rewards pious wives with paradise upon departing early life when their husbands are pleased them” he preached.’ we beseech God to strength the wodower and bless him with another understanding and faithful spouse” he prayed
