Airforce Receives New Leadership – The Torch Uganda – Independent News, Stories & Perspectives

Nakasongola  – The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces–Air Force (UPDF-AF) has announced two key leadership changes, with Brig Gen Allan Kalanzi assuming command of the Uganda Air Force College (UAFC) in Nakasongola, and Brig Gen Robert Freeman Mugabe appointed Commander of Ground-based Air Defence.

The handover ceremony in Nakasongola was presided over by the Commander of the Air Force, Lt Gen Charles Okidi, who commended the outgoing officers, Brig Gen James Muhwezi and Col Herbert Mwetegye, for their dedicated service.

Lt Gen Okidi urged the new leaders to approach their responsibilities with commitment and to professionalise their units through capable and motivated personnel.

Brig Gen Kalanzi pledged to build on his predecessor’s legacy by strengthening standards at the college and fostering teamwork among pilots, engineers, and instructors.

Brig Gen Muhwezi encouraged him to continue ongoing initiatives, noting that their close collaboration had prepared him well for the role.

The event was attended by senior and junior UPDF officers, including Col James Uma Ali, the newly appointed Chief Instructor at UAFC Nakasongola.
