Archbishop Kaziimba Calls for Unity as he Concludes Bugisu Farewell Visit


The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, on Sund concluded his farewell visit to Bugisu subregion with a strong call for unity among Christians.

Archbishop Kaziimba arrived in North Mbale Diocese on Friday, May 29th, 2026, and led a farewell service at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Buhugu in Sironko District, on Saturday. He later proceeded to Mbale Diocese, where he presided over a farewell service at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Mbale, today.
In North Mbale Diocese, the Archbishop was received by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Samuel Gidudu, while in Mbale Diocese he was welcomed by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. John Wilson Nandaah together with the Clergy and Laity.
Preaching from 1 Peter 3:8, the Archbishop emphasized the biblical call for believers to be united in mind, sympathetic, loving one another as brothers and sisters, tender-hearted, and humble.
The Archbishop also encouraged Christians to embrace Church of Uganda’s campaign to plant 15 million trees, for environmental conservation and to generate revenue.
He cautioned Christians and the general public to remain vigilant and strictly observe the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health to protect themselves and their communities from Ebola.
On the sidelines of his visit, Archbishop Kaziimba paid a courtesy prayer visit to the retired Bishop of Mbale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Patrick Gidudu, who has been undergoing medical treatment in Nairobi following brain surgery. The retired bishop is steadily recovering from a mild stroke that affected the right side of his body.
Bishops and leaders commended Archbishop Kaziimba for his visionary leadership of Church of Uganda to complete church House, fight homosexuality in Uganda, preaching the gospel and shepherding the flock as a good role mode.
The Archbishop was welcomed by several political leaders from the region including; Budadiri East Member of Parliament Hon. Julius Nakiyi, Budadiri West MP Hon Godfrey Wanyoto, Bungokho South MP Hon. Geoffrey Wokuri, Mbale District Woman MP Hon. Miriam Mukhaye, and Mbale City Mayor Her Worship Joyce Kidulu among others.
