Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Three armed robbers have been lynched in Namasuba along Entebbe road.
According to Patricia Babirye, Haruna Galabuzi, and Henry Mfitumukiza, they were distributing products of Shana Company, when armed robbers traveling on a motorcycle UES 820K. waylaid them at Ndejje Kibutika village, in Wakiso district.
Galabuzi explained that the armed robbers shot at Babirye who is the company’s salesperson and stole money.
“They robbed 20 million shillings from us after shooting Patricia Babirye. We made an alarm which attracted the locals and bodaboda riders who gave them a chase up to Namasuba where they were lynched,” Galabuzi explained to the police.
Galabuzi, was the driver of the truck, while Mfitumukiza was offloading the products.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson said all the robbers succumbed to the injuries inflicted on them. Two of the robbers have been identified as Mark Bakka and Brian Ssemanda.
“Tragically, two suspects succumbed to injuries at the scene, while another passed away upon arrival at Mulago Hospital. The police have recovered identification and voter cards from the bodies, and the alleged weapon has been secured as evidence,” Owoyesigyire said.
However, police have said that the 20 million Shillings has not been recovered. Owoyesigyire believes it could have been taken by members of the public during the confrontation.
