Back online: UCC Restores Fully Internet Services in Uganda

Kampala– The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has announced that internet services have been fully restored across.

Social media platforms

In their statement released on Monday morning, these have noted that the restoration has folowed a successful completion of the necessary technical and security assessments.

“Members of the public can now access the internet and all online services without the previously imposed restrictions. UCC sincerely appreciates the patience, cooperation and understanding shown during the period of limited internet access.”

UCC also expressed commitment to remain monitoring the digital environment in order to promote a safe, stable and reliable online experience for all users.

During 2026 General elections, UCC shutdown internet services all over Uganda with a view of curbing misinformation, vote rigging as well as avoid cases of inciting violence from careless social media users.

However after elections, a week back, internet was restored with social media platforms still blocked and some Ugandans tried to continue accessing them using VPN which was still illegal.
