Arua-based FUFA Big League side, Onduparaka have confirmed the departure of up to eight players, and also announced the arrival of eleven new signings, as of Friday, September 27, 2024.
The Caterpillars released James Jarieko, Nelson Mandela, Bernard Ndifuna, Ibrahim Musa, Faisul Ssekyanzi, Musa Aluma, Boy Fazilinho and Jaffar Kerepi.
The club, in return recruited heavily as they target Uganda Premier League (UPL) qualification when the 2024/25 FUFA Big League season begins early next month.
Onduparaka have enough players in camp for their league opener next Sunday, October 6 – a home tie against stubborn neighbors Paidha Black Angels at the Greenlight Stadium, Arua, in the highly-rated West Nile derby.
The Caterpillars signed Young Elephants trio of winger Jimmy Oola, midfielder Samuel Lubangakene and defender Jacob Ojara, all joining on three-year contracts respectively.
Other new players at Onduparaka also include Joel Ayella from Ndejje University, Joel Kiggundu from BUL, Sadik Nassur from Adjumani Town Council and Bruno Bbosa on loan from Maroons.
In a related development, Onduparaka have re-signed four of their former players; utility player John Rogers Okumu, striker Jamal Malish, defender Denis ‘Koko’ Andama and midfielder Ibrahim Faizul Anini.
Meawhile, the club has confirmed the renewed commitment of atleast five vital members of the team, who signed new contracts with the FUFA Big League side last week.
Long-serving rightback Gasper Adriko, striker Brian Ade, defender Simba Sabir, plus midfielders Davis Mayanja and Junior Andama have all renewed their contracts with Onduparaka for two more years respectively.
Onduparaka also managed to convince their last season’s top scorer, coach-player Ceasar Okhuti to come out of retirement (for the second time) to add firepower to the club’s striking line.
