KAMPALA-The National Unity President (NUP) Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has suspended Hon Mathias Mpuuga the Deputy President of the Party in Central region.
“The President of the National Unity Platform has suspended Hon. Mathias Mpuuga from the position of Deputy President (Central Region) for engaging in actions of corruption and abuse of office — which actions he has failed to give any satisfactory explanation for.” Reads Kyagulanyi’s statement posted on NUP official social media account
The suspension has come after a few days when Hon Mpuuga has publically announced as being one of the people that started the party and he has no where to go.
“I wish to state that I am a founder member of National Unity Platform (NUP) where I serve as a Deputy President. I am not leaving the party I founded and I’m not doing anything that destroys a young party I participated in establishing with conscience and conviction. At least I’m not yet moved to that level.” Mpuuga revealed at his presser held at Parliament on Tuesday.
For over three weeks , Mpuuga has been having misunderstandings with some of the NUP members and leaders resulting from the 500 million shillings reward he received from Parliament at the end of his tenure as the leader of opposition.
