Preview: Bright Stars, URA Target First Win

After a 1-1 draw against local rivals Wakiso Giants in their league opener, Bright Stars will be aiming for their first victory as they host URA at Kavumba.

“It’s our first home fixture this season, and we’re hoping to start on a high note,” said head coach Joseph Mutyaba.

“URA is a strong team, but so are we. Being at home, we are focused on securing maximum points.”

However, Bright Stars have been winless against the Tax Collectors for the past five seasons. Their most recent encounter last season ended in a 1-1 draw, with Nelson Ssenkatuuka canceling out Ivan Aimbisibwe’s header.

Bright Stars’ last league victory over URA came in April 2019 at Namboole, thanks to a goal from Ssenkatuuka.

Ssenkatuuka also scored the decisive goal in Bright Stars’ first and only home victory against URA in October 2017 at Mwererwe.

On the other hand, URA will be looking to bounce back after a 1-0 defeat in their opener against KCCA FC.

“We’ve worked hard to correct the mistakes from the first game. The boys have responded well in training, and I believe we’re in a good position to bounce back. We’re hopeful for maximum points tomorrow and will give it our best,” said URA head coach Alex Isabirye.

Ahead of the game, URA has strengthened their defense by adding new signing Shafik Lugoloobi, who joins from newly-promoted Big League side Ntungasaze.
