British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) held the latest round of invitations on February 2, 2021, to invite immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR Visa.

A total of 208 skilled worker and international graduate candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination in the BC Express Entry (EEBC) and Provincial Skills Immigration categories. The minimum score required for applicants varied by category.

The cutoff scores for the BC Express Entry subcategories were:

  • Skilled Workers: 104 points
  • International Graduates: 100 points

Applicants in this category must have previously submitted profiles through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)’s Express Entry system. Once they receive their invitation to apply for a BC Provincial nomination, successful applicants will earn an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, which will effectively ensure that they receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence under the IRCC Express Entry system.

The cut-off scores for the three skills immigration subcategories were as follows:

  • Skilled Workers: 98 points
  • International Graduate: 98 points
  • Entry Level and Semi-skilled: 79 points

The B.C. government has indicated that there is an impact of the coronavirus on the draw. As has been the case in recent months, British Columbia excluded several occupations from sales and circulation services.

BC runs invitations across its various categories and PNP feeds every week. So far this year, 740 invitations have been issued by BC PNP.

For skilled immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination through BC PNP’s Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories, they must first create an online profile and register under Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

All the profiles in the SIRS are then assessed based on the factors such as work experience, education level, language skills, and location of employment and are awarded points based on the same factors.

Basics on BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Stream

Through Skills Immigration, BC PNP allows the foreign skilled immigrants with a job offer from an eligible employer of the province to apply for provincial nomination.

This is the only SI category that does not apply to Express Entry applicants.

BC PNP also invited immigrants through its entrepreneurial stream for the first time in 2 months.
